It is that time of year! I just love FALL...the crispy leaves, the beautiful colors, the coziness of the house, and the treats....oh my goodness the treats! I inherited a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer from my generous mother-in-law recently and the first order of business is to make these yummy bites of pleasure! I found these beauties at Glorious Treats.

Each year...I stress and stress about the perfect Christmas card! Getting the just the right photo and designing the layout just perfectly and then struggling to find a reasonable place to print them. Well....guess what.......Shutterfly to the rescue!! WOW! I can not believe that June is gone and we are already half way through July! I guess time flies when you are busy-busy!

June was FULL of projects! We completed....several new wedding logo designs, an anniversary video, numerous rehearsal dinner photo stories, a graduation video, several video transfers and much more! I am exhausted just thinking about it. We are now full steam ahead in July and already taking reservations for August projects.

Here is a video project from June from one of my wonderful clients......I was able to incorporate the theme of the rehearsal dinner throughout the video using the invitations that the client provided.

We have been BUSY---BUSY here at Mayken Memories. We have officially entered our active season. Wedding rehearsal love story productions, photography sessions, wedding monogram design and father's day projects ALL for clients! We are loving every minute of it. There will be some changes coming to the website and some giveaways during June so check back soon! In the meantime, here is a sneak peak of a few shots that I took of these absolutely scrumptious little men a few weeks ago!

Do VHS tapes have a future?

As you can imagine the future of VHS tapes is limited. The tape that is used to record all of your beloved home movies is simply magnetic. It tends to deteriorate with use and over time. Every time you play, pause or record on these tapes you are taking years off of the shelf life.

Think of all the time you spent collecting those memories. It would be such a shame for those memories to be lost forever!!

Now is the time to transfer those memories to DVD.

I made these adorable little Valentine treat bags for Mayken's preschool class. I used a portion of the sweet love fancy labels from TomKat Studio. I think they turned out so cute. The treats inside are quite simple....but as we all know....presentation is everything!

Charile and his chocolate factory!

I recently designed custom birthday invitations and thank you cards for a west coast client. She asked for a "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" theme. So we decided on a golden ticket! I also had the pleasure of creating her son's first birthday video and I was able to incorporate this theme into it as well. His mom loved the invitations so much, she had it put on his 1st birthday cake as well. Isn't that great?!?

The costume that mommy made!

This year, I decided to become a little more adventurous and make M's costume! I think the final product turned out fantastic! She really liked to "strut her stuff" when she was wearing it. We had a fun filled day packed with activities, so she was able to wear it all day. I made the costume thinking it would be cold, usually here on Halloween it is chilly, but this time it turned out to be almost 80 degrees with 200% humidity....it was quite balmy.

People used to tell me that when you have children..time will start to fly by! WOW.....I sure do believe it now! This photo of our little pumpkin was taken almost 1 year ago. I can not believe how much she has grown. It is amazing how much she has learned over the past year and how she has developed her own little sassy personality!

50 years is a long time!

I just finished a project for a couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this month! While editing their video I got to know their family through their photos. It was so great to see the same friends that were in their wedding in photos throughout the last 50 years. I watched their beautiful kids grow up over the years and add more beautiful grandchildren to the family tree. It made me start thinking ......where we will be in 50 years? I started getting all nostalgic about our wedding day and our friends that were there with us. So now I am on a mission to reconnect with all of our friends because in 50 years I want to look back and say.......wow...look at what we did.

Most of you know that I typically try to feed Mayken organic foods. I thought that I would share some great resources that I have found helpful.

I picked up this great book from Williams & Sonoma before Mayken was eating solid foods, it really helped me to understand how to use spices in her food!

I have also stumbled upon a website specifically discussing wholesome foods for toddlers. It has some great information for us first time mommy's. http://www.wholesometoddlerfood.com/

The Environmental Working Group has some great information about organic foods as well. Such as which fruits & veggies are safe if you are not able to find organic choices. Pay close attention to the DIRTY DOZEN.

First Birthday Celebration!

Mayken's 1st Birthday!

We pulled out all the stops for this special little birthday! We decorated using the main colors of bright pink & green everywhere, from tablecloths to picture frames. She wore her cupcake monogrammed bright green dress along with her special made birthday hat with her name embroidered..it was so cute adorned with feathers. When we put it on her head she acted as if her head had suddenly become heavy. And the balloons..wow the balloons..so many in pink & green. I sat out picture frames with photos of her throughout the year. the menu called for fingerfoods...and boy did we have fingerfoods..everyone left stuffed. Our guests received a unique DVD by mayken memories of her first year along with some scrumptious cakepops! We all had a blast & more importantly, Mayken really enjoyed herself! She ate her cake like a pro (mommy made the cake with love!) She was surrounded by her wonderful family, just like the day she was born! It was like she had her own papparatzi with all the cameras & flashes! We had so much fun but we were certainly ready to crash after the party.
